What Counts as E-Waste — and Why It Shouldn't Sit Around

E-waste covers anything electronic or electrical that's ready to go — dead smartphones, retired laptops, old printers, the kitchen blender that finally gave up. It's one of the fastest-growing waste streams worldwide.

Without proper routing, toxic substances inside electronics — lead, mercury, cadmium, brominated flame retardants — can contaminate soil and groundwater. Singapore's regulations around regulated e-waste streams exist for that reason.

Improper disposal also wastes recoverable material. Circuit boards contain gold, silver, copper, and rare-earth elements. Material recovery reduces the need for environmentally destructive mining.

In our 10+ years across Singapore, we've seen a lot of e-waste sitting in storerooms because the customer wasn't sure where it should go. The answer is usually: not the general bin chute — through a proper recycling channel. We handle the pickup and routing.

What we don't take: loose lithium batteries outside a device, cars or motorcycles, chemicals, asbestos, food waste, gas tanks.

How We Route Your E-Waste

Sort at Source

E-waste is separated from general bulky items before anything leaves your premises. That single step is what determines whether items go into the right recycling stream or get mixed into general waste.

Licensed Intermediaries

Items go through licensed waste-management intermediaries that are equipped to handle proper material recovery — dismantling, separating metals and plastics, and routing hazardous components through the right channels.

Honest About What We Are

We're a collection and routing service — not a NEA-licensed e-waste collector and not a data-destruction specialist. If you need formal certificates of destruction or NEA paperwork, a licensed operator will serve you better. For everything else, we'll clear it and route it properly.

Booking Pickup — Three Steps

1

Send Us a Photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the electronics you want to clear. Include quantity and any item details that help us scope the job.

2

Get a Free Quote

We reply with a clear quote — including any surcharges that apply (after-hours, walk-up, stairs, ramps). No hidden costs, no surprises on the day.

3

We Collect and Route It

Our crew collects the e-waste at the agreed time. Items go through licensed recycling intermediaries equipped to recover materials properly — not into general waste.

Why Proper Routing Matters

Hazardous Materials Don't Belong in General Waste

A single CRT monitor can contain several kilos of lead. Smartphones carry mercury and cadmium. Lithium batteries degrade over time and become fire hazards in storage. The longer these items sit around without a proper destination, the greater the risk.

Recoverable Material

Electronics contain recoverable copper, aluminium, gold, palladium and rare-earth elements. Material recovery at scale reduces the need for environmentally destructive mining. None of that happens if the item ends up in a general-waste incinerator.

Semakau Has a Deadline

Singapore's only landfill is projected to reach capacity by 2035. Every kilo of e-waste routed into recycling instead of incineration is a small contribution to extending its life. The maths only works if proper sorting and routing happen up-front — at the collection point — rather than at the back end of a mixed-waste load.

What We Actually Do

  • Sort e-waste from general bulky items at your premises
  • Route through licensed intermediaries for material recovery
  • Bulk household and office IT pickups on schedule
  • 10+ years operating across Singapore

Frequently Asked Questions

Anything that runs on electricity or batteries — phones, tablets, laptops, desktops, TVs, monitors, printers, networking gear, cables, chargers, small kitchen appliances, and large appliances like fridges, washers and air-con units. Not sure about something specific? WhatsApp us a photo and we'll confirm.

We collect batteries only when they're in proper e-waste form — inside a UPS unit or attached to the device they came from. Loose lithium cells and damaged batteries need dedicated battery-recycling channels and we'd point you to the right drop-off rather than collect them ourselves.

We don't run a recycling facility. Collected e-waste goes through licensed waste-management intermediaries equipped to recover materials — separating metals, plastics, and other streams — before residuals enter the general disposal chain. We're not NEA-licensed and we don't provide formal certificates of destruction. For organisations that need that paperwork, engage a NEA-licensed e-waste collector directly.

Yes — bulk office IT clearances are common work for us. PCs, monitors, printers, networking equipment, accumulated peripherals. We can schedule outside business hours where building access allows (extra charges apply for after-hours, Sundays, and public holidays).

We strongly recommend wiping or destroying drives yourself before collection if your data is sensitive. We're a collection-and-routing service, not a certified data-destruction provider — once items leave with us, they enter the recycling chain, but we don't issue destruction certificates.

Loose lithium batteries (outside a device), cars/motorcycles, chemicals (paints and solvents are fine), asbestos, food/biological waste, cooking gas tanks, dead animals, anything explosive or hazardous.
